Burgundy is one of THE big colours of the season but there are definitely different ways to wear it to look your best depending on your colouring type.
If you have LIGHT colouring then burgundy can be a bit harsh worn up near your face, so you are better wearing it below the waist and perhaps teaming it with a neutral such as cream/light camel like the jumper, bag and boots above. A scarf with a pop of burgundy in it pulls it all together. This will look especially good if you have Light+Warm colouring. If you have a cooler undertone, then perhaps pair your burgundy with something like a light grey.
Burgundy was made for DEEPS, so if this is your colouring type you’ll look great wearing up near your face or head-to-toe like I’ve shown above. As you look great in two dark colours worn together you can team in with any of your other deep colours – maybe try black, dark brown, navy or dark green.
If you have WARM colouring then why not pair it with one of the other big trends for the season, leopard print, which looks lovely with your warm colouring.
Adding a cool colour up near your face will work really well if you have COOL colouring. If you have Cool+Bright colouring, it could be a bright pink as I’ve shown here. I’ve chosen trainers that are a mix of burgundy and pink to bring it all together.
Burgundy is a muted colour so won’t generally work very well worn near your face if you have BRIGHT colouring. Instead pair it with one the bright colours from your palette and perhaps add a touch of fun in some metallic accessories as shown above.
If you have SMOKEY colouring you can pair your burgundy with something like charcoal grey. This will look especially good on you if you have Smokey+Cool colouring. If you have Smokey+Warm colouring you could try mixing it with coffee brown or camel perhaps.
There is a way to wear every colour. It really is just about where you wear it and what you pair it with.
If you are unsure of the colours that suit you best, you can book a colour consultation – you’ll receive a colour fan of your best colours removing all the guesswork and making shopping and putting outfits together so much easier.
