I read a great article in Grazia magazine last week on how we can add or detract years by the way we apply make-up. Here’s a few tips:
Eyes:
Black kohl pencil heavily lining the lower lash line – adds 5 years.
Brown eye liner plus a touch of sexy smudging along the top lash line – minus 1 year.
Lips:
A precision lip line plus satin-finish lipstick plus a dusting of face powder on top – adds 4 years.
A matte red lipstick plus no other make-up – minus 3 years.
Foundation:
Full coverage matte finish foundation – adds 6 years.
Light reflecting foundation or natural dewy finish tinted moisturiser – minus 3 years.
Blusher:
Tawny-brown blusher applied in sculpted manner – adds 4 years.
Fresh cream blush on apples of cheeks – minus 2 years.
Brows:
Over-plucked arches plus heavy eyebrow pencil – adds 5 years.
Fuller, brushed-up brows plus a slick of eyebrow gel – minus 3 years.
Tan:
Instant fake tan plus a full face of make-up – adds 2 years.
A gradual tanner-glow plus a statement bold lip – minus 5 years.
There may be parts of this that won’t apply to you given your colouring, face shape etc., but it’s a good general guide on how to peel back those years and keep your make-up looking ‘current’.
